St John No. 2 Island in the World

St. John recently ranked No. 2 in a list of the top islands in the world published by TripAdvisor.com, the world's largest travel website. This the the first year TripAdvisor has published a Top 10 Traveler's Choice islands list. The winners were chosen based on the quantity and quality of reviews of restaurants, hotels and attractions submitted by consumers during 2012.

The top 10 islands were chosen from a list of 120 islands in 12 regions around the world. St. John ranked behind Ambergris Caye of Belize to claim the second spot.

Other notable honors the U.S. Virgin Islands have gotten from travel-related media include:

•	Trunk Bay was No. 1 in a list of "17 Beaches We'd Like to Be Lounging On" published on CNN.com after readers submitted their vacation photos.
•	Conde Nast Traveler named St. John in its top 10 islands in the Caribbean and Atlantic.
•	Trunk Bay on St. John made Travel and Leisure's Best Beaches 2013 Survey.
•	Arthur Frommer, esteemed travel writer and publisher of travel book series Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel, named St. John in his list of top 10 places to visit in 2012.
•	The Virgin Islands was the top choice for an American getaway in 2012 according to Lonely Planet, the world's largest guidebook publisher.
